Large Verizon Layoffs in 2015 Are Possible - Here is Why

Verizon does not have loyalty to anyone, you are just a number and if they need it they will cut you without any second thoughts. Your manager does not care about you, and nobody cares about your manager. If there are layoffs, Verizon moves swiftly and eliminates positions like no other company. The company is so large that all people are really just numbers and as market conditions get worse in 2015 you will see more and more layoffs in different groups. If you look at the posts below, there are many engineers complaining, marketing people complaining, first line operations and stores complaining, administration and finance, etc. Nobody is safe and the company is so large that you lose any sense of ability to influence things. All this happens while the big guys are occupied with collecting every larger bonuses. The bonuses are received if they meet certain profit objectives, so if they cut labor, if we have a RIF or redundancy, Verizon’s costs are smaller, the revenue stays the same, and the overall profits are going up – so the management here at Verizon has every reason to continue to push layoffs on us.

Verizon intends to exist all facets of their business except for content (AOL), digital media, wireless and FIOS. Everything else is on the block it has been in the news. After 12 good years there I was part of the recent RIF in December that ran mainly in the specialized services groups (cloud, adv comm). while the package is good you better bet that you are just a cog in the machine for this massive company. Stay as far away from this train wreck as you can. Do yourself a favor.

the business world has been flat for a long time now! noones job is safe unless you're manually labor is a service company, and a union helps!!

Verizon and AT&T are doing the same thing. All wireline and video service will be sold. guess where the majority of the work will be then........yep not in the USA,

My job was cut in May after months of secret hiring in a new Philippines location . Then they started to send my coworkers there to train and hire even more, Then the cat was out of the bag and we knew it wouldn't be long and they didn't disappoint . Over twenty years of experience, doing their bidding and not being able to take vacations on my schedule came to an end . All the while they lied to our faces saying it would certainly not affect us. Yet when your paying a filipino $140.00 a month, how can it not affect us and our jobs here in the USA.. Should be laws against that .

The majority of our jobs are going overseas. No one takes into account all of the hours we spend training them to do it right! So many of us have spent many productive years with Verizon, but it is just a matter of time.

We are going thru another management RFI and reorg! it started last week. The Hunt Valley building has been sold. Last month we lost one supervisor but I understand there were a lot more. Everyone was told to be at their desks at 8 am and wait for the phone call The office was tense with nervous energy not knowing if you would be the one to get the call. Around 9am everyone was in the halls with relief energy know they missed the RIF and that others got it.. It was the survival mentality thing. A really shitty way to place the message to employees. I still don't know how many people got the axe last month does anyone know the number of employees that got RIF'ed last month?

I think Verizon employees are bullies, unethical and unprofessional! They need more education as there pay and benefits exceed more qualified workers! My husband works there! He cheated on me with a co worker and stole 36 years of our marragial assets! He and his Verizonparamour used the company truck to stalk me during the divorce! They also damaged phone connections at my place of employment as well as my lawyers office! They think they are higher than God ...thugs!!!!

The Northeast needs to hold off management RIFs until the union contracts are settled during first week of August. 2015. After that there will be major RIFs. If Verizon can find a buyer for Northeast Wireline, there will be even bigger RIFs.

I totally agree with your statement. I am one of Verizon's ex-employees, all our jobs are going to the Philippines and some to India. We will one day be the 3rd world country with no jobs.
