There is so much going on at my Kmart store that I don't even know where to begin. For starters, this no money down layaway is kicking our asses! They haven't hired anybody to help in layaway & it is a complete mess back there. There are only a few people that work in layaway, but not nearly enough employees to accomodate the volume of customers! They will make you work back there while you have a line with no help. Next, our STORE MANAGER is leaving for another position with another company! I have also heard that ANOTHER MANAGER is leaving soon as well. Several employees have put in two week notices/already left because they cannot take it anymore! Additional employees will be leaving soon after the holiday season. Speaking of the holiday season, we haven't really hired any seasonal employees this year. I guess they just want the current employees twice as hard to make up not hiring additional employees. Finally, our restaurant is shutting down on 10/25/15. Someone said that Nathan's made the decision to shut down. They are supposedly closing Nathan's nationwide (at Kmart). I find this hard to believe. If someone can confirm/deny that information, that would be great. The way things are going at my Kmart, I have come to the conclusion that the closing announcement is coming very soon. We are still reveiving trucks normally. However, when you combine all of the other issues such as managers leaving, restaurants closing, unhappy/frustrated/overworked employees, & lack of hiring seasonal help, I think closing seems like the obvious answer. I would really like to hear some opinions on this. Am I wrong? What are the signs that your store is closing? Please reply if you can be of assistance.

The Nathan's at the nation's first K-Mart in Garden City, Michigan closed in February 2016.
Sounds about right. But you forgot that sears/kmart has not given raises in over 8 years. Not good for keeping employees or to give incentive to do a good job or even want to invest your time and talent in the company. The END IS NEAR! Good luck to all.
What did you expect from a company that has cut hours to the bone, underfunded the pension, understaffed stores, let stores fall apart, haven't updated the interiors of stores in 15 years, has 25 year old equipment and computer systems, has cut commissions for sales people to less than a minimum wage job, has District managers who are only looking out for their job (they don't care how stores run as long as the stores make some arbitrary metric), constantly pushes their Shop Your Way program and credit card sign-up on customers, even if it just pisses the customers off, has long lines to check out, carries cheap junk merchandise, has one of the worst return policies in retail, has been voted one of the worst companies to work for (includes Sears and KMart), has a CEO who has been voted one of the worst CEO's in the country, wants to be one of the top online retailers but has one of the worst web sites, a mobile app that doesn't work and finally has prices that are at least 25-30% more than Amazon or Wal-Mart for the same item and Sears charges shipping.
