Starkey Water!

Received an email from Annamaria:

"We launched Starkey Water off cycle at the beginning of the year as our exclusive control brand. Few promotions have been ran but the sales have been very soft in our region. Please make sure you have these items merchandised in the cold drink case, water sets. Planograms are being updated to make sure these 2 items are merchandised in all stores. Also, try to incorporate them with you entertaining off shelf displays. Starkey does not only comes in a pretty glass bottle calling out the vertical integrated pure and ancient water source bringing innovation to a very competitive category".

GET BEHIND IT!!!

But seriously, she needs to be fired immediately. #WFMteammember

I suggest you read the water quality report. Starkey is just below the EPA's max threshold for arsenic. Most other waters have none. Whole Foods is pushing poison.

Beware: Chris Schecks will stand on a step ladder to look you in the eyes and yell at you for not having it in your coolers. Tim Martin will fire his Yosemite Sam pistols into the sky in celebration if you do!

Yep, we did the same thing with Chobani. Someone's feelings got hurt because they sold to other retailers. So..... we kicked them out, brought in some overpriced copycat exclusive with not as many choices, and now Chobani is the #1 brand. Furthermore Chobani has added like 18 fantastic new flavors, created the four-pack along with those combination products with the granola and dark chocolate...and we con't carry any of it. Brilliant. It's all natural and millions of their customers are buying them by the dozen at Kroger, Meijer, Publix etc. #EpicFailAgain

You're right on the money. Over the years I've seen us disco so many popular items, simply because Kroger carries it. We replace the popular item with a product that is over priced, and that no one wants. Great strategy, and a great way to continually piss customers off. This corporation has no retail sense whatsoever. Oh I almost forgot, we aren't about selling groceries, we are about saving the world! #WFMteammember #TeamWFM

Annnd the reason we don't carry MV spring water anymore is because Kroger sells it. So what? That's where everyone's gonna go and buy it then, not here. It was a huge seller at my store, and now everyone's scratching their heads 'hhmmm wonder why sales are negative comping?' when we're purposefully driving customers away from us?!?? Thanks Mismanagement!

It's all about that pretty glass bottle, even though the water tastes terrible. Mountain Valley Spring is far superior and cheaper. #StarkeyWater

Whole Foods buys Starkey

The Adams County Record, Wednesday May 8, 2013

By Dale Fisk

Whole Foods Market closed a deal with Evelyn Snider to buy Starkey Hot Springs on April 24. The next day, they took over the lease on the Cuddy Mountain Water building at the Council Industrial Park.

Whole Foods plans to haul water from the hot springs to Council where they will bottle it and then sell in 345 grocery stores in North America. The company will be making some required changes on the equipment in the former Cuddy Mountain Water building. Since Whole Foods will sell the water in such a large area, the FDA regulations they are required to meet in their bottling plant are stricter than those Cuddy Mountain Water had to meet.

Jeff Teter, President/General Manager of Allegro Coffee Company (a subsidiary of Whole Foods Market), has been negotiating the purchase agreements for the past several months. He bought a number of copies of the book, “Landmarks, A General History of the Council Idaho Area,” which contains a comprehensive history of Starkey, and distributed it to various decisions makers in the company. When asked how they plan to market the water, Teter said, “The fellow that heads up our internal product development really likes the Starkey story, so we think at this point we are going to call it Starkey Spring Water.”

In the purchase of the Starkey property, there are number of deed restrictions upon Whole Foods. For instance, the company has agreed to continue traditions that Evelyn Snider has established, such as the annual graduation night party for high school seniors, evenings when the pool is open for swimming, and more.

The company has indicated they want to be good neighbors and contribute to the economy of our area. Teter said, “Our plan is to develop a pretty big web site presence, with pictures and video, taking about Adams County and Council and Starkey Hot Springs.”

Had to do this: #starkey

Going forward, if we can just get behind Starkey water enough, it might just turn things around. Right Annamaria? #WFMteammember

Coming soon: Starkey fragrances. Nothing says "refreshingly vertically integrated" like Essence of Starkey.

Tastes great with the 365 (oh wait, now they're Whole Foods Market brand) frozen burritos. Old price for "365" brand was $1.69. New price for "Whole Foods" brand in shiny new packaging: $4.99. Wow, such innovation. No longer affordable to the average Ho.

"Pretty glass bottle". LOL!

by | Post ID:

Going forward we really need to get behind some Allegro celebration roast.

Let's get behind some Ooh La La chips.

Honestly, on our conference calls I've never been able to understand a single thing that she says. They have always been an absolute waste of labor, but I hear they are going to continue with them. I guess they need something to justify their jobs. What a joke.

They are all in bed together. The whole corporation is a pyramid scheme, and everyone knows it. #WFMteammember

So allegro owns this Starkey thing....now I get it.

Don't forget about Frankie's, Annamaria.

More absolute gibberish from the monkeys in management. What a load. #WFMteammember

Going forward, we need to jump on board this ship before it leaves the station. Get behind it like your life depends on it.

by | Post ID:

"vertical integrated pure and ancient water source". WTF?

by | Post ID:

I am going to buy a gross and use them for target practice.. Nothing looks better then "pretty glass" bottles exploding.
