In short, ATT is cutting several hundreds of employees from Directv positions - most of them american. They are citing possible security risks because we're a work at home division... but it was ATT's FOREIGN CALL CENTERS that caused them to be fined several millions a few years back. Please, let's stop pretending it was a merger, it was a hostile takeover of a company willing to make choices that harm American jobs and move them to their overseas groups, just like they've done before.

If you have any issues regarding payroll with Asurion because of layoff's make sure you contact payroll about it to make sure you get every cent

Asurion let go of alot of good people and kept some bad people I knew a guy who had bad metrics and was kept a month later he went to Verizon and shortly after he was fired.
Call and chat centers are not in India anymore. all in the Philippines
Fully expected this, but when our clients contract was renewed I figured it would be okay for at least a few more years. I will never have an account with ATT or Directv and I recommend no one else does either. They are very shady in their business dealings - including offering that notorious NFL package at a significant discount... but on one day only - the day of the free trial so no one tries to call to buy it.
The company I work has Directv as our main client. I am part of of a Work At Home Team for Asurion. Since AT&T merged with Directv they have ordered my company that they layoff all Work At Home Posiitons working currently on the Directv Client. This action willput almost 1500 employees managers included out of work. They are sitting that its because of security concerns they have that were fined for previously by work at home employees for their company. However it has come to my attention that the security violations were not done by any of our employees they came from outside of the US. As a result my company Asurion is systematically terminating people for any reason they can to avoid paying out out any severance packages to employees. The remaining employess willbe laid off between now and the end of this year. This merger is costing 1500 americans tobe put out of work and AT&T should be fined for this.

If you read the posts when the DTV takeover started you will see the fools who said many jobs will be created and the work will all go to the wireline and internal call centers. Surprise surprise, very soon none of the DTV call support people in the US will be kept. Just as it is in the wireline and Mobility call centers, the move to shift the work to India is in progress. H1b employees are being trained by US employees and most foolishly think it is to help support them. As the IT folks found out it was to replace them. Once trained entire groups were laid off.
Sadly people think it will always be the other guy and keep their head buried in the Kool-Aid.
