Thread regarding Cisco Systems Inc. layoffs

Cisco sales layoffs expected at end of FY16

Expect to see sales layoffs as Cisco sales goes through reorganization. All levels to be affected. Sales growth projections are coming up short.

Will cuts come before GSX?

The severance package looks like freedom

In this thread, one of the comments was > Some managers are already prepping long-term employees for early retirement packages.

What is this early retirement package ?

I got LR'ed in the 2014 round, after 18 years. I thank my lucky stars I got out when I did. There are plenty of opportunities out there with fun companies with a lot less BS associated with them. I had two offers to stay but also had 3 offers from outside. The same day I handed in my kit I picked up my new laptop. For those who cop it this time you have nothing fear except fear itself.

It will be years before cisco, has any chance of really innovating and contributing to technology. They are cleaning the whole closet. Anyone who thinks, staying back in cisco is a blessing; is really playing the russian roulette.

Look outside cisco. Companies welcome you, if you have skills. And they appreciate hard work. If you survived using politics within cisco, then you wont survive outside cisco.

Good luck to all in Cisco, let the chips fall as they may.

Worked at Cisco for almost 20 years - from the good years to the bad years. Survived many LRs. Saw all the lunacy and corrupt behavior there. Finally LRed at the end of 2014. I thought my career (S/W engineer) was over (> 50 years old). But... God's honest truth, I got 4 offers before my last day at Cisco. Three were from inside Cisco and one outside, with at least 2 more outside offers in the works.

There's a demand for good networking engineers, so if you're one of those, take heart. This is the best time to be looking for a job in the last 10 years! Most of the ~100 LRed from my team got other jobs fairly soon too. There is life outside of Cisco, believe me.

I watched Chambers from the inside from the day he became CEO. He is largely responsible for Cisco's rise - and fall. I'm sure that in his quiet moments on his personal jet, he realizes it too.

Oh, and by the way, if you're thinking that I took one of the 3 internal jobs, think again. I couldn't wait to move-on, and now I just watch the burning, sinking ship from the shore.

Good luck to all!

Unbelievable that this happens every single year.... and people wonder why employees are no longer loyal to Cisco. What happened??? Cisco used to be such a great place to work!

Any information on what the LR package will be?

Received confirmation from 3 separate individuals across 3 different geographies and sectors of Cisco that between 10K and 13K people will begin being laid off in the next 2 weeks....as the fiscal year ends. Some managers are already prepping long-term employees for early retirement packages. Thoughts and prayers for those that will be impacted.

My experience with Cisco is fairly poor management at VP and Director/Manager levels and an executive team that doesn't articulate corporate direction and strategy cohesively and well. The issue of motivating good employees and letting go bad ones as per someone's post at the top of the page is a little perplexing to me. While letting go of 'bad' employees is something that has to happen, getting there should be a process vs. an event in the absence of something egregious. In my experience in the BTx sales overlay, leadership was very poor, there were only managers/bosses and fear and bullying behavior seemed to be the norm. It is hard for me to blame someone for taking a package under those circumstances. Cisco has routinely been culling since 2008 and this year is no different.

Cisco is responsible for creating the toxic environment where people wonder what the package is going to be. What else are they left to wonder about? Cisco has decided that it is ok to run a business that purchases companies and then executes a major lr 2 years later to cover the cost. Why this is not viewed as negative social impact is beyond me, especially with such strong cash flow. Who is impacted is not in control of the employee....especially under the "people deal". So again what else are employees left to wonder about other than "what is the package"?

by | Post ID:

Asking about severance is normal and healthy. The environment at Cisco is somewhat toxic this time of year. Rats on a sinking ship. This comes from the "leadership". Real Leaders would have done the difficult work of motivating good employees and eliminating bad ones throughout the year.

by | Post ID:

Yes, it's people who want severance packages who are bringing down Cisco. Nothing to do with overpaid middle management and senior "leadership" who have no idea to run a company. I suppose running a multi-million dollar marketing campaign about saving rhinos is really going to boost the bottom line.

This company is always doing the same thing every year, nothing but layoffs. Cisco = Fiasko

by | Post ID:

Severance package? You are a great example of why Cisco is going downhill instead of excelling you want to know how much you can get from the company - sad...

by | Post ID:

Any info on what severance package will look like?
