ITT Tech Closing Nursing Campuses in Indiana?

A little birdie told me this. Is it true?

"The Newburgh campus is the latest Indiana campus to stop accepting new applications in all programs, joining South Bend and Fort Wayne. That leaves only Indianapolis, Indianapolis East, and Merrillville campuses. This is significant, as Indiana is home to ESI headquarters."

"A bigger blow to ITT-Tech is that ALL five of the Indiana ITT-Tech nursing programs are no longer enrolling. The Merrillville and Indianapolis campuses are still enrolling in other programs, but the state nursing board ordered them to suspend enrollments in the their nursing programs. ITT-Tech's own Chief Academic Officer, Dean Kempter, participated in many of the Indiana state nursing board meetings. The Indianapolis campus is only a few miles from ESI headquarters."

"The issues the nursing board raised are many of the same ones that plague other programs at other campuses, like corporate insisting on making decisions for local faculty, high student failure rates, and curriculum issues."

I wonder if the nursing students at campuses around the country, where NCLEX pass rates are under 60%, know that their programs are failing ACICS standards? Most of the Ohio schools have pass rates under that, according to statistics: />

I wonder if all the Breckinridge nursing students at the Norwood, Ohio campus have actually been notified, as the Consent Agreement requires.

Section 4723.06 (A)(6), ORC, based upon the Program's failure to meet and

maintain the minimum standards for education programs established in Chapter

4723-5, OAC, and that the Board issue a Notice of Opportunity for Hearing in

accordance with Chapter 119., ORC. Motion adopted by a majority vote of the

Board members with Patricia Sharpnack abstaining.

, it is becoming more and more clear they know nothing about education!

At some point, in the far distant past, ITT-Tech was successful in preparing students in electronics and drafting, I hear. I have an a couple of students who enrolled because of recommendations from older relatives, etc.

Now management looks like a bunch of amateurs who have no clue. I suppose the relatively young Modany was supposed to bring the company into the new millennium. Wow, epic fail.

Wanting obedience not excellence pretty much sums up the situation at Norwood/Cincinnati. The director has surrounded herself with sycophantic personalities who do not question her leadership. It is little wonder that the campus is in such sharp decline.

It the idiots in Carmel don't understand that you cannot run a real educational establishment using such techniques then they understand nothing about education whatsoever.

, that is creepy! But it explains a lot. Even adjunct faculty are required to take a test now, when they apply online. I heard that a science adjunct faculty, at one of the campuses I used to teach at, failed on his first try. So he was told by the associate dean, who was desperate to hire him, to reapply with a different email address. He was hired.

Here are a couple more links to Indiana nursing board meeting minutes. If you want to get a feel for what an ITT-Tech campus is like, read these. The nursing board routinely makes site visits of nursing programs statewide, so review curricula, etc, so they see what is going on. The June 2014 report shows the start of serious grilling of ITT-Tech administrators. The nursing board has found, by this time, evidence of poor treatment of faculty, little regard for input of faculty, poor communication between everybody, outdated textbooks, not enough faculty for number of students, lack of faculty training, etc.

The January 2015 nursing board minutes show how entrenched ITT-Tech's problems are. Especially telling is the admission by a high level ITT-Tech administrator that the nursing exam results are embarrassing and they are trying to make changes to their campuses.

ITT-Tech struggles meeting state nursing board standards, and they are nowhere close to getting national nursing accreditation.

Imagine how ITT-Tech administrators treat faculty and students who are not in nursing programs! For the nursing programs, ITT-Tech big whigs are trying to put on their best show. They know they are being scrutinized. The rest of us faculty, and the students, in all the other ITT-Tech programs, don't have similar state boards helping us out at the ground level.

ITT-Tech isn't operating like a real college, so why are they still accredited by ACICS?

Noticing that one of the problems cited by the Nursing Board in the ITT Indiana nursing programs (thank you for this link!) is a lack of qualified management, I have a tidbit of info that may be related: Corporate requires that all administrative candidates submit to a personality test. This drastically limits the pool of candidates to choose from. I have observed that the most qualified can be excluded from positions of authority by this means. Candidates are frequently not told why they were excluded, but in one case that I know of, a candidate was excluded because her personality test showed she challenged authority.

I think corporate wants obedience, not excellence.
