Titles and Grading system meant to keep salary structures really low

Titles of positions and Grade system are meant to keep the salary structures really low . This is the real trick that no one seems to understand .

The salaries here are 25 - 35 % lower than the industry rates while the work required to be done for these roles is 70-80 % more than industry standards . Besides, this a lot of parameters and requirements are thrown in to get a promotion or raise .

Off course they provide things such as occasional pizza parties or give you a bottle of liquor or some fun activities to do to forget stress and pay but the real point being missed is why is the salary low ?

I am 40+ and Cisco had to disclose the age information to me when I got LR'ed. 90% of the people on downloadbesttorrentblog.ru are 40 and +. Yes, I did stick around because of the WFH policy that worked well with those having young children like me. Besides, I was always a high performer and got on average 30-35% bonus every single year, until i got laid off last month (and for the first time i got 1.0 IPF) I did notice the environment has turn unhealthy, and deeply political, but I kept my head down and focus on delivery...I did not think I would be impacted. And boy, was I wrong! Took me 2 weeks to get 2 offers out of only 2 companies I interviewed with. Double the commute and no WFH. But I am happy (well a little sad on time with my kids) with my career now. With only few weeks on the job, I can feel that the new environment is much healthier, people treat each other with genuine kindness. I hope/wish all impacted will land some jobs that you will enjoy, and those don't feel happy with Cisco today to get out there and control you destiny. There is life, and happy life, outside of Cisco. Best wishes!

So then , why stay?

They are hurting you emotionally, physically, and financially. Age bias is a thing in SV. If it were comfortable and "safe" I'd get your desire to hang around, but is WFH really so important you'll stay stagnant and make it easier for age bias to catch up with you there?

Find something else. Find something better. Do something new.

Or, hang out until they decide your years of service mean nothing and put a bullet in your head, end your career, and cut you loose.

Post ID: : I am one of the employees sticking around for the reasons listed in your response else I have no good reason to stay with Cisco. Constant uncertainty around the job is taking toll on my confidence and personal life. On top I turned 40 this month and have been reading articles on "age bias" in IT industry which is making me even more nervous..

I know several folks are here just because of super comfortable life, hardly 3-4 hours of work daily

Working from home...the ability for many to work away from the office is one of the few things that keeps people here. For some it it is being home for young kids, for others to be where they can afford to live and some so they can work from second homes/locations.

Take that away and require everyone to be in the office and you have Yahoo. People start leaving for a market rate salary.
