Anything is possible, They ended up building Westboro Datacenter to completion only because on the books, it was "cheaper" then leaving it as is. Not too long after it had been completed, all servers and machines were hauled out to Durham NC, etc. The entire building was emptied out not too much after that.

So I think anything is possible at this point.

My group has had 1 desk for every 2 employees for over 5 years. Its not new. Call centers are not excluded. Why would a call center be excluded when you can take a "call" from home

They are not going to shut down 171. No doubt it was on the table. To many people. To many groups to disperse. It would take years. As to someone that posted updates??? The whole roof was replaced as well the parking lot concrete getting ripped up hauled out and replaced. They did change out the frost on the main door to Dell EMC. I highly doubt they would spend the money to do that if it was shutting down. For those who say the work was done before the announcement of Dell buying and it was done last summer? That deal was already in the work Tucci needed his big day payoff. If not he would have got like 160k as apposed to 36 million for leaving.... But yet he is still on as a mentor for Dell

Im at 171. My group cant be 100% WFH. Maybe a few on each team rotation but not all. Egans still own the buildings on South St. Big money saver shutting them down. I heard my group might be moving back to 176. Which I dont mind. Hopefully with new equipment if Im still around

Like the other comment said, 171 is the only occupied building on South Street that didn't get the external branding and none of the doors or signage on the inside were changed as well. Facilities sent out a message in September that the signage would be done by December but it hasn't, and there's clearly a reason for that. With the "connected workplace" initiative and having 1 desk per every 2 regular employees (sales, call center, and R&D engineers excluded), it's completely realistic they can close it down and shuffle people around the other buildings and push WFH. The only issue will be moving the support center and the lab space.

You don't find it interesting that 171 was one of the only buildings that didn't get the full Dell EMC branding on the exterior?

They'll probably tell some people to WFH and move others to 228 (which I'd say is probably only 60-70% full)

I highly doubt that. Do you know how many people work in that building?

source on the intel? timeline? plans for existing personnel? any info whatsoever?

No surprises there. The "upgrades" stopped a year ago, aside from replacing those gawdawful scent diffusers in the restrooms. No more fresh paint on the walls.

Any idea on a timetable?
