Confirming 2017 layoffs

I have it on very good authority that Cognizant is faced with 0 revenue growth and is trying to keep profitability by cutting $1B from its budgets.

After 11 years with the company I received $0 bonus this year for the first time ever! My layoff date is Mar 17, 2017

Anyone know of any pending layoffs due to acquiring TMG Health?

Congnizant laid off Americans in US without paying them proper severance pay. Zero. Just the last paycheck on the last day and that's it. Cognizant even didn't pay employees who were laid off for those unused vacation days and refund for their payroll contribution of their ESPP since end of last quarter. Their HR staff said 'unused vacation days and refund of ESPP payroll contribution will be paid in your next paycheck.' Really? There is no other 'American' company does it like what Cognizant does. Stop lying to Americans, Cognizant. If your company made Americans mad, you won't stay in our country very long.

it is laughable that cognizant are forcing employees who has worked in Cognizant for 10-18 years in the company in the name of performance.there is no ethics,integrity and transparency now in cognizant,its in a complete mess with the top management not knowing how to increase profitability,complete politics and favoritism is destroying a company once upon a time was a great one,indeed sad state of affairs

Cognizant will not layoff any one just like that. If anyone is not meeting the expectation the company will give 8 to 12 weeks time to show the improvement. If employee fails to show improvement then there is no point to keep him in payroll so don't blame the company. I believe company might have given you fair chance(may be 5 to 7 weeks) to find the project where you can contribute with your skills & learn new skills. I am surprised with your statement.

The above post is 100% wrong cognizant do what ever they want. The HR department is worst in reponding to employees.

Apr 13 - 2017 - I got laid off from Cognizant. I was in cognizant for 14 years, (4 years offshore and 10 years in Onsite - US). Even though, I got good rating in Appraisal, they couldn't able to find a position or client project here. The HR didn't helped to find any opportunity. I tried my best to find project, only got only one client interview. That too, client didn't want Senior resource. The cost-to-profit ration is lean and cognizant didn't want me to proceed on. They laid me off after 5 weeks bench.. No unemployment benefit ??!!!.. Aren't they supposed to pay benefits (like US companies pay like 3 months salary for layoff) ? It is not fair to layoff without proper compensation.. Bad Indo-American company..

Sellable profiles should be retained .when client shows the interest in keeping the resource what is the need to lay off that person .

If company isn't doing well they should accept that In The news papers . Why blame the associate and call him a under performer in media and give a lo rating . Slavery is better than meeting their expectations . In my opinion very unethical worst .

They could hav just said our company isn't doing well so

We are laying off as many ppl.

This way this company is never going to recover or bounce back. Their attractive packages won't bring back the talent . From now on people will be scared to join cognizant .because they have rejected worlds best as underperformers .its their loss . I this is partially linked to US elections .

Yes cognizant lays off anyone just like that if u get low rating and even if u r in a project . So many internal politics . May be the company isn't doing well. Very unfair to give in news as underperformers and layoff . They are ruining the life of the candidate by doing this . First they give bad rating no bonus then layoff . If they give warning before being laid off they can look for another job . After being laid off which company will be willing to hire then after the big news had spread so much.very bad of way dealing things .CTS did so much bad to many .

lowest rating is to retain you in the project with out hike and bonus, it is also one way of cost cutting due to high inflation in price of commodities in market. so be clear if you want job be there else search outside chennai market is good now in IT field. you can get a small company be there for 2 yrs and jump to a giant company. it is how you take the situation do not cry or afraid of layoff and firing is all part of the job and the market trends. sure the next job is waiting with a good hike in salary for you dears

It is easy to get a job in any big or small IT companies, It is how you tackle the situation, market is good for all peoples please try outside and explore your capabilities in all companies and domains, it is a bad period now in big companies like cts now days. you can sure get a job with good hike in 3 to 4 months so do not lose your hope. I am having 12+ years of experience in USA and i had very good name with companies where i used to work. I got trained from company did certifications and work experience too.

First time I got lowest rating. My husband had surgery and cont go to work for couple of months I din't expected this from Cognizant.

I wonder that, all these comments shared by above. I found this the place and I can also share my bad experience with CTS Management. They have worst mentality in-terms of putting pressure on getting revenue on it and no manes to handling the people. Always they are focusing on trying to blame any small mistake and no single motivation on even if do day & night, week-end or extra hours, etc.. No matter what it is their feeling to gain the resources at their targets. Other ways they will give bad rating.

Kindly stop layoff, their life's risk will go very badly mode and very important consideration, please suggest some time stay and get project as soon as possible.

If you were rated the lowest by your employer and if you yourself think that you are better, do not wait any time to switch. Why are you waiting for the inevitable to happen? Find a company that appreciate your talent and leave before they ask you to leave. Throw your resignation letter on the face of that idiot that told you that you are no good.

Hi All,

I am also Cognizant employee joined as PA in the month of June 2016 as a permanent employee after getting released from Cognizant as a contractor in the period 2014-2015, they themselves recruited me again as i had good performance but now they gave me 4th rating saying that my productivity is slow as compared to other employees who comes under my grade, but that didn't affect any deliverable or i had any internal client escalations. I am an expectant mother too but still i never took advantage to take over my deliverable's due to my health condition. I don't know whom i have to approach and talk about this. If I am leaving in this situation, no one will recruit me or i can attend any interviews as well, which will affect my financial support to my family and medical support which i need at the most wanted time. Please someone help me out in this critical situation.

If any one got laid off please let me know few details as i got last bucket. elaborate the process 1. how much time they have given? 2. what is compensation they have given 3. when could be the last date?

Yes, it is absolutely true. I'm a current employee of CTS - joined six months ago, at a Senior Level.

Now, I get a 4th bucket rating and being asked to leave in a month or so (i.e. resign and get lost) and the reason is "NO PROJECTS" that's the bottom line, I pity CTS for its un-ethical move.

It is happening in India too. Cognizant is laying off people purposely giving them fourth bucket in spite of working really good and make employees sit in bench without assigning any projects. It happened to one of my very own colleague who has even got client appreciation to his credit. As mentioned above, Managers are forced to give low ratings to their reportees even of they perform well. Cognizant follows TCS wayand I personally feel that it is the beginning of end of Cognizant. Few local state governments have given approval for IT employee organization in lieu with securing the interests of employees working in IT companies. It is happening at many levels. Even a Senior Manager has been sacked.

You think Cognizant is helping people? If you are a manager here you will know and they r forcing to take local hires and kick out people in h1 despite of having loads of projects! People who r working in CTS or in bench or hiring managers knows abt it so just don't say you guys know everything! I see many gone back to India/offshore and many forced to put papers coz company doesn't want the count of termination they made flashing in their basket on the news! As a manager I know abt it and how smart yet cunning these things are! They r so smart to do these by not giving projects at all to anyone in h1 visa despite of having them is something making us feel sick as these guys worked hard but ended up as useless garbage to the company, I myself was forced to give lowest ratings to smart working ppl who contributed a lot! As they say don't love the company, love the job! If u r not happy with cognizant then move out! Silly guys!!

Our project pipeline is drying up and bing here in the DC/Maryland area, the atmosphere is not good for us overall, - 2017 will be a challenging year for all IT consulting companies, but for us and few others we'll have some big hurdles to overcome.

what planet do you live on? If they cannot staff you, you will be let go. They may give you some time, but that's mostly in hope that a project may pick you up (while they work on the admin side).

Did your supervisor shared any feedback with you throughout the year?

What is reason you have been laid off?
