Starting to hear that Shell secretly starting to work on downgrading JG2-JG5 by 1 level, maybe 2, as a way to cutback. No good for those that have built many years here. By doing this, the compensation salaries will be comparative to other oil companies, which is much lower than Shell.

Starbucks is a rewarding option
The one thing you can say about this is that you're f--led jack. Can any of you flip burgers cuz that's where you're going next.
I think the same can be said of get rid of jg2 and shift down the work to a 3.
I've worked with 2s and have seen them out of touch do little,of,direct value work and require briefing to bluff their way Ina daily basis
The overriding message is Shell will use you for what they need, you should do the same. What organization would continue to downgrade opportunities? What's the incentive to work more productively, put yourself out anymore than is necessary to get by? The telling tale was their doing away with a pension plan a few years ago that rewards long service. Watch you 6, heads up and be prepared to bail.
Get rid of JG3. JG2 can perform the same duties. I've worked with JG3s and I've seen first hand how little these people do and how their work can be shifted to JG2 easily
This would mean people can only be promoted so far unless they go into management.
Shell is just trying to properly align pay structure with value to the company. Individual contributors can only provide value through the work they perform themselves. Managers, overseeing the work of others, have a much more significant scope of influence impacting the company's bottom line. There should be no overlap between the grade levels of individual contributors and management. This realignment is long overdue.
we've seen it in our group. jgs 3-4 jobs being posted as 4-5 when someone leaves. same work, just less pay. eventually, we find that the new candidates can't do the work, so we either outsource part of the job or hire someone else to "help". Unfortunately, two JG5's aren't as productive as a single jg3. and they cost more combined...
Maybe they'll be like Aera and use Frito Lay and Ben & Jerry's for benchmark companies.
I heard its country specific. Wheel vs hub
Honestly makes sense.
For the amount of work vs responsibility while balancing growing and developing talent
Downgrading and asking some to leave with respect of course supports this whole:
Fit for the future meets
investment case meets
Wonder if any VP/GM roles will be impacted
I heard 1/2 with evaluations of jg 3
Downgrades will be for incumbents, will have no impact on current pay levels but will impact future expected salary increases, i.e. it may take several years of no increases to square with the lower grade. Applicants for new openings will come in at the lower grade and salary level. Guess it beats being a greeter at Walmart but so much for career advancement.
Actually JG2/3 only.
