Thread regarding Allstate Corp. layoffs

Hiring among layoffs

It seems that there will be 2,250 new positions at Allstates Charlotte expansion. This would ordinarily be great news, if it was not happening while many other employees who have been with the company for years are getting laid off...

I've been a field adjuster with Allstate for some time now. HR did their geographical mapping in all areas to determine who they will involuntary terminate their positions.

It looked like Ray Charles picked these adjusters. I was one of them.

Does not make sense why they would fire some adjusters when there is not another adjuster within a 30-50 mile radis of where they were working. Not to mention the 20 year plus guys that have been with the company.

QFC is a joke.

The amount of restrictions we have on to what we can put on our estimates and what we can't will ALWAYS have supplement considerations. Now we are basically forcing shops to use virtual assist for supplements with adjusters that have being slammed with shops all day long coast to coast even on the most technical sups.

Express is useless since 9 times out of 10 the file is wrong, not set up correct, claim handlers not assigned, incorrect damage details and wrong contact numbers causes us to run in circles trying to determine what we pay and what we don't.

Too many things not set up properly takes time out of the day to get things done the right way. Bottom line is the field adjusters are the front line guys like me we need. Now they are pissed off, over worked and are constantly looking over our shoulders wondering when the next layoff is going to be........

Field adjusters are working more supplements that WFC initial estimates are creating, plus add initial estimates at shops that have been waiting 4-5 days to be looked at and you have a [email protected] of assignments . Allstate paying more rental, shops and customers pissed because of delays and less staff because of downloadbesttorrentblog.rus. QFC estimates are poorly written because of hidden damages and photos and shops refuse to order parts off them because QFC adjusters are finding parts in far off places like Montana and Tennessee.

If it is a LONG TERM strategic plan, they may not be ready to disclose it, because it's LONG TERM. And, it sounds like they are being transparent if they ask you that question.

Anyone being hired into HO positions is being asked if they would be willing to relocate to Dallas or NC. I love the joke that is transparency at Allstate they clearly have a long term strategic plan they are not sharing with the working staff, but oh we are supposed to be soooooo transparent about everything we do. Mark my words ho is closing in IL and there will be consolidations to match State Farm wait till end of year and everything is a surprise. hypocritical company READ THIS OFFICERS to see how your employees really feel.

250-300 miles a day = 50,000 to 60,000 miles a year ! (It also means you spend 5+ hours a day just driving !) Most of my adjusters travel 50 -75 miles a day.

You just made the case for virtual estimating.

No, it means you worked an 8 hour day (what you get paid for) and you have a 2 hour commute.

by | Post ID:

I work in an office and commute almost an hour each way every day. Does that mean I work a 10 hour day ?

by | Post ID:

I know of field adjusters, including myself that have routinely 10 hours days. 250-300 miles a day to look at my assignments. When Allstate put field adjusters on salary, all they knew to do was "push". Where as before they knew they had to pay overtime. They got us where they wanted us and crammed our day. No love lost here. I was let go. Not sure what I'm gonna due now, but I guarantee you I won't have the stress of working for Allstate.

You're an exempt employee, meaning you're not eligible for overtime. I'm an inside adjuster, and when it gets busy, we work a little longer, part of the job. I haven't heard a lot about 10 hour days for auto adjusters.

Most don't reapply because as a field adjuster, you never have time for lunch and work over 8 hours with no overtime on a daily basis. Yes, other carriers and collision centers pay more. We had an adjuster position open for over a year prior to this layoff and couldn't fill it. There's something to say about that. Other carriers have people knocking their doors down. Even if Charlotte will create excess amount of new jobs, that's not going to help the demand of field techs in every other state. It's not going to work. It's not productive. It's certainly not customer service driven. Yes, field adjuster are going to take a besting on this which is already happening. People expect exceptional customer service from any business and unfortunately they will not be receiving it. For instance, whether you have rental coverage or not customers are not going to be thrilled that there vehicle is sitting around waiting for the insurance company to get their act together. Currently have shops waiting 7 plus days for reinspects.

The last time I checked, the company has a tuition reimbursement policy. Get a degree.

by | Post ID:

People that aren't adjusters that don't have that paper saying they have a bachelor's degree don't go anywhere! So the only way to move up is to move out!

I work in Casualty so I'm not close to this, but didn't they get laid off because the work was going to QFC ? How can workloads increase ? The good news is, it sounds like all these adjusters got jobs AND took the severance.

by | Post ID:

In California, most of the field adjusters who were laid off already have new jobs starting after the 14th. Most making more money with more holidays than the 5 or 6 offered by Allstate. Why stay with Allstate and give up the severance package?

An already overworked field adjuster can only expect to have more pressure and more assignments put on them with over half the field team laid off. In addition, many that were not laid off have left for other carriers.

Thats why.

by | Post ID:

I'm a field adjuster that wasn't laid off, so I'm lucky, but we have adjuster openings that they can't fill.

Adjusters that were notified aren't applying??? Why aren't adjusters that received notice applying for these jobs ?
