Under dell if you are classed as frontline or non-frontline will dictate whether you can do courses to progress or not.

Just a fact to consider, previously people in manufacturing could do the courses as part of their development plan, now with dell they can't only under extreme circumstances.

Good place to start, but they'll squeeze every ounce of juice from you. But definitely you'll learn a lot of skills, and the company will provide every training you need or you're interested in. The company no longer invest much on tech but invest heavily on marketing and sales crap unlike when it first started with Symmetrix. If you have enough of the b**it marketing stuffs..move and you'll be surprised what other company is willing to offer you if they know you came from EMC. Good luck.

Working at Dell EMC right now is an incredible learning opportunity. Whether the merger succeeds or fails, there will be books written about this experiment. I would take the job if offered. Learn, make connections, etc... Don't let bitter people dissuade you.

I'd say it's perfect place to start - you'll learn a lot and stay away from politics and stories - focus on learning and push hard for new stuff - get ready for long hours learning off the work time but it pays off.

Good luck

99% folks on this site are disgruntled. They come here to b--ch about layoffs, hence the responses will be tainted. Find a different forum or get ready to hear what's wrong with EMC. That's right, you will hear the TRUTH about what's wrong. You will not hear anything about things that work well and there is quite a bit of good things on that side. When you combine pros and cons, you get a fairly good picture. My 2 c - get the cons here and get the pros on glassdoor - balance it and you'll have a good picture.

Good luck. Beginings are always exciting.
