Thread regarding Cisco Systems Inc. layoffs

Question: laptop return ?

Are you wiping your laptop before returning ? How should it be returned back ? How did you return it or planning to return it ?

Is there any official policy ?

Yes, because I'm sure the IT backup solution doesn't have copies of all data already..

Reformatted the harddisk, then reinstalled the OS. I don't trust Cisco IT one bit.

Dropped mine in the bathtub with my ex while it was still plugged in.... killed two birds with one stone, so to speak

I'm planning to p-dribble a little over mine. That's before I scratch my inner butt with it.

Backed up all the files, then wiped it clean. Sent to my manager's admin.

Peed in mine then plugged it in the wall jack. Some smoke came out. I LOLed. Packaged and shipped out it via Fedex to Milpitas.

IoT...Internet of

I sent mine in, then received a call from Agent Smith a week afterwards to inform me it had been reassimilated into The Cisco Matrix as the Starbucks credit card reader for a new store on Tasman, just next to campus. He asked if I knew how to make coffee. I start as a Batista next week. IoT: Internet of Turds...Welcome to The Matrix.

I wiped mine but I never asked what happen to the Crashplan backups. Does Cisco have access to those? I can’t think why they would but still...

I played the "Thank you John, Rock on Chuck" song.

My laptop self destructed. My eardrums too..

I used Boot and Nuke on mine. Then I dropped the Bastard thing from over 6 feet in the air to make sure it was well f---ed up.

I did delete my user profile from my company Mac before returning it.

Not that there was anything interesting on it, but why take the risk. Emails etc will of course be on Exchange.

It didn't seem rigorously enforced. When I worked there we had a random ThinkPad that someone must have left but was never returned and never questioned. I handed my Mac to a colleague for them to return, rather than the HR drone I'd just had the final meeting with. Didn't make much sense but I guess Cisco wasn't fussed about the potential cost
