Thread regarding Hess Corp. layoffs

Employees are your backbone

I was treated awfully at Hess. There is no sense of loyalty or value as an employee there. People were promoted due to politics instead of expertise. Positions that could easily be filled in-house were done outside of the company devaluing its team members who are trying to move up the ladder.

Most times we were understaffed and the workload was overwhelming due to power hungry managers playing favorites and passing the buck. Work life balance was difficult to manage and rate of pay never came close to amount of responsibilities held.

I enjoyed working there once upon a time, but all of this forced me to look (and find) employment elsewhere. Hess needs to treat its employees better or they will keep losing the ones that are the backbone of the company.

I was laid off from Hess back in 2016 after only a couple years of service. Working at Hess was both my most rewarding and my most painful career experience.

In order to survive at Hess one must be a seasoned well-polished office politician. While technical knowledge is very important at Hess, the primary factor of success lies in one’s ability to master the fine art of brown nosing and eggshell walking. Those individuals impassioned at solving technical problems and executing precise calculations will eventually lose patience in tolerating the outward displays of incompetence and weakness at Hess.

Oh I digress. They’re sent to the ND for a month. Then to the GOM and know it all. When in reality all they can do is make KPI charts. It is really no wonder the the gulf does so terrible. All these senior people, don’t have the experience one should. To hold a title with senior in it.

Haha there is not a single "kid directly out of college" on that team... exaggerate much?

If you think you have it bad. Ask all of the contractors on Tublar Bells, how they like it. Even the Hess employees don’t like it. Decisions are made by kids directly out of college. With no industry experience or know how.
