Thread regarding Hewlett Packard Enterprise (HPE) layoffs

No layoffs until next year?

I was told by a coworker he heard from somebody a few steps above that layoffs have been put on hold until next year for "optics" reasons. I know we've had layoffs around Christmas time before, but maybe they've learned something from that and we can actually relax and enjoy the holidays?

"Your 4 hour response doesn't guarantee parts availability nor does it guarantee onsite. It is a 4 hour response with a 12 hour repair. " As a CE, this is the most frustrating thing to say to a down customer. Sorry, you have the wrong coverage, 7x24 isn't good enough... I've never heard the 12 hour repair thing you mention and I know it is not possible to get some parts for days. I have had parts driven from Cleveland to my state (400 miles) to work on a 6 hr CTR (we missed the 6 obviously) so even 6 hr CTR is no guarantee of parts availability. We do our best but with parts stocking, we can only do what we can.

Your 4 hour response doesn't guarantee parts availability nor does it guarantee onsite. It is a 4 hour response with a 12 hour repair. 6 hour call to repair is 6 hours from call in until the repair is complete with parts guarantee. Buy the right service for your hardware support needs.

"All I know is that we keep pissing off customers. It's starting to get bad in the field. CE's are getting scheduled out days in advance not because the customer wants service that far out, but because that's when the next available CE is open. I know of some who are on 2 person week-long rotations for both day and night. Couple this with shipping delays from Christmas and you get customers who are much more hostile than I've experienced in the past."

This is why I will not upgrade the hardware service on my HPE systems to the six hour call to repair level as the service sales reps would like for me to do. They don't seem to have enough CEs left or parts in stock to meet my four hour onsite service SLA in a consistent manner anymore. In effect, they have downgraded their quality of service in order to force me to upgrade in order for me to get the level of service that they can't even deliver under my current SLA. Kinda like the battery in my iPhone.

“The company closes for the last two weeks of the year.” True, but this has no affect on layoffs I bet my bonus check there will be people laid off over the ‘shutdown’... probably me. HPE will do this to eliminate the 2017 401(k) match, and to intimidate/bully the huddled masses. Guaranteed.

Tomorrow is my 4 month anniversary of being WFRed after 37 years. There are 2 parts of my state that have 2 customer engineers covering the area. 50% of the time, they are on 7x24 standby. How long can you live like that? I will celebrate being wacked tomorrow, 4 months into the rest of my life. Best of luck to all. I feel bad for those left. It was a great company. After Lew Platt, the CEO's just got worse and worse.

It's not onesy twosies when the bulk of a whole department has been laid off. You have no clue what you're talking about. All the years with HPE and they treat you like dirt for all your years of service. All so Meg can get her millions in bonuses at the expense of the true hardworking people.

There hasn't been any major layoffs during the last 2-3 weeks of the year except onesy twosies. If there were any major ones, it's likely due to some major cancellations. All I can say to fellow survivors is to enjoy family time during the holidays and don't overspend. Sheesh, if possible don't spend at all. Christmas has now become a materialistic extravaganza instead of what it is supposed to be.
