Thread regarding Walmart layoffs

Increased sales

Anybody else noticing a serious spike in their sales? Not talking the usual pre-holiday increase, but compared to last year?

For some reason, we are seeing more customers than in a long, long time at our store. Not really sure why, but I'm hoping this will stave off those closing rumors we've been having.

1qmz. you can’t be serious. I can walk in any wal-mart at any time and see fewer customers than in the past. on the grocery side the walmart brand has replaced the name brands and they for the most part are crap. the average consumer will pay a small increase to get what they want and know the quality. as far as foot traffic maybe using curb pick up, idk. not a walmart employee here but a sam’s assoc. i don’t shop walmart nearly as much as before for several reasons

Things we carry are better. The pricing is also improved.

People are not stupid, the customer knows...

, completely right! Job growth as a result of tax cuts is a joke to make middle-class people believe it is going to benefit them. It's all about shareholders, and a select few at the top of each corporation who will put money in their pockets. We will still see layoffs, jobs go overseas and to H1-B holders.

I guarantee if WMT saves any money from tax reform it will go straight into the stock buyback program and other forms of financial engineering. There will be minimal job growth in US, minimal capex but the shareholders will be rewarded per usual.

Walmart is sweetening the pot for shareholders before its annual meeting, using the oldest trick in the book.

The retailer on Tuesday morning announced that it had authorized up to $20 billion in stock buybacks over the next two years. That's a massive amount of capital to be allocated for repurchases, which are frequently used by companies to boost shares during times devoid of other positive catalysts.

No. Not seeing it.

Former WM here. Last ttime I went to a store was on Black Friday. Store was almost empty in the afternoon. No cashiers in sight. Either physical store sales slowing this year or all the action is going on outside in “curbside pickup” where I could not see it.

OP is making a sad attempt to save their job by changing perception, as if lying to people about how wonderful things are will alter reality.

Too many psychology courses or something mehthinks. No, you can't alter reality by lying to people.

Here's the key comment by OP that gives away their motives.

" I'm hoping this will stave off those closing rumors we've been having."

Good luck OP, this is MUCH bigger than public perception, it has a real world cause that you won't be able to change by posting lies on a website.

No, not at all. And I would be willing to bet $1000 that you don't even work at Walmart do you troll?

Sales are terrible, worse than last year.

Now go peddle your BS somewhere else.
