Thread regarding Chesapeake Energy Corp. layoffs


Another round of culture training, we maybe one of the last groups in the field to recieve this training. Our boss put on his manager face & told us how enlightening the training was going to be and that we would be a better company for it. I felt like he was totally BSing us & trying to keep a straight face while spoon feeding us this crap.

I was hoping that some of you could share your experiences with the training. Is it good or bad, is it a tool to perform my job better? Will this training help us drill our wells straighter, improve our production, reduce LOE, reduce CAPEX, And or optimize production? Please let me know it sounds like a game changer, it better be for a day & 1/2 of training.

Check your facts. HR had nothing to do with bringing in SD. All EC.

Just be sure ti ask the right questions. Don't ask why it appears that someone is trying to cover up thousands in wasted spending each month. Turns out, VPs don't like being callef out stuff like this.

An expensive bunch of BUNK. Nothing new. Repackaged - time wasted - company wasted $$. Period. The drones are running around spouting the SD words - but they are as corrupt as ever underneath.

100% agree with the previous reply.

It is a 1.5 day class to make you understand that when you feel that communication is lacking, it is because you do not ask questions not because this company has installed incompetent leadershhp that cannot communicate to their employees.

There are additional parts of the class that are common sense and if you try to use the training for a benefit it will be useful at home. As for the workplace none of it is useful because you will walk out of the class and within a week will be stabbed in the back by your superiors or not told something intentionally to hide the ball. This will make you jaded and even further confirm your views of the company that the executives and leadership team believe the problem is you.

The most important part is to understand this is not a ‘training’. You will be told this multiple times. Then a EVP in his townhall yesterday specifically used the exact words ‘Culture Training’. Unfortunately, the Executive team gets a bonus if they get all employees to take the ‘training’ by the end of the year.

It’s pretty common sense stuff. I found it to be a good reminder. Probably the best reminders are that people see things differently, be here now, and assume positive intent. It could be good if management will practice what they preach. The biggest problem we have is inexperienced managers not listening to their more experienced underlings. We have let too much experience walk out the door and have too many people in roles they are not equipped for. Best of luck to you!
