A New Year, a New me. Been here to many years, at what point did I allow myself to be treated like this? I overheard my manager on the phone recently say he is applying for another job somewhere. But this is not enough for me. This manager has been the worst so far. Set the planogram correctly and anything left left over- shove it in somewhere. We're only hiring a few people for rush, the lines will be going to the back wall and we will have to put up with the whiney kids complaining while working our under paid a off. Our manager can't even figure out if, when, or how we are supposed to take a break. He gladly works around temps schedules, but put in time off to go to the doctor and you're treated like crap. The video we saw and had to take a test on harassment and how to treat people had to be made by someone who has seen our overbearing manager who micro manages everything. Doesn't matter if there is staff or customers near by, you get yelled at and treated like a third grader. But no more, I'm going to find something else somewhere. Even a just hired, part time Wa-Wa cashier makes more money than I do. He expects a two week notice, he really needs to expect to see my a walk out the door laughing during rush. Our RM comes in for two minutes every month and can't even be bothered to say good morning to us. Well, I'm not a third grader to be yelled at any more. Forget the hotline, somebody needs to start a class action lawsuit against this kingdom. We get no raise or bonus while the kingdom fills their sacks with money and profits from our hard work.

When you decide it’s time for a career change, the natural reflex is to start searching job boards to find the next best thing. But particularly in today’s highly changeable economy, this approach is all wrong. What you need to do is find an employer – a company, or even an individual manager, that you’re excited about supporting and learning from. Why we can't work for Follett anymore. Follett doesn't support their employees.
My boss thinks we're gonna have 8 registers going for rush. We will be lucky to have 6. Nobody has the availability we need so I will be on a register for 9 hours with no lunch break oh and you can only have 5 hours overtime. HA!
and that, my friends is ignorant exceptionalism.
You, too, have an expiration date.
Let the door knob hit ya where the good Lord split ya!
follett is a terrible company. Your expectation of decency was too high. The people running this company are bad people. They've infected you, "whinny kids", is an example of the infection. These are your customers. The a holes who run this stink pit never understood the students decide from whom to buy their books. Now look, a generation of "kids" have no idea that their bookstore can be a resource. The bookstore is where you go to get the ISBN so you can shop the book elsewhere. The consumer is smart, management isn't.
Best of luck to you. Congratulations on making a tough decision. Don't be embarrased when you look back and wonder, why did I stay so long. A lot of people did. Take another with you!
