Layoff Package Entitlement - Starting second job week before layoff date

Hello!

I have extensively read through the GE Power layoff I received and there is no mention of forfeiture of severance eligibility if a second job was started while still working at GE provided I am still fulfilling my GE duties. I am potentially accepting a new position in another company a week before my layoff date. My potential future employer can't push the start date another week out. Does anyone know if that working for the next employer for a week to hit downloadbesttorrentblog.ru date and electing the lump sum option would cause ineligibility to receive?

Thank you!

Don’t ask don’t tell. If you must say anything, tell you manager you are “interviewing “ or preparing for your job search. They are supposed to support those activities. Don’t feel obligated to do anything for GE anymore.

I agree with the call in sick option. Don't let GE screw you over again. You went through a lot for that package, don't let them take it away, too!

If I get cut in the next round and up against a new job start date, expect me to do the same thing!

GE is a corporation. Their main and only aim is to make money and they do not care a dam about its employees like any corporation. (some more some less but basically same). So, I would doubt you would be eligible. Always take care of yourselves.. no one else will..

All you people saying to be "civil" and "don't be greedy" are morons. And I'm also guessing they are not the ones facing a layoff. Sorry to say that but it's true. In a world where corporate greed, including and especially GE, screws employees over on a regular basis, it stupid and idiotic not to take everything you can when being involuntary forced from the company. I was laid off in March with an effective date 6 weeks later. And for that 6 weeks I didn't do sh*t for GE. Instead I looked out for myself and spent that work time landing a much better job at a much better company. To an extent I think it was actually expected. Be smart people and look out for yourselves. GE does not care about you.

why not stop being greedy. be happy you got a new job and take what is in the package

Keep it quiet, DO NOT bring any attention to yourself. You want to be honorable, yet does the company have your best interests as their core? They do not. You earned the package. Protect that package. They will probably not even notice you are not there every day. Be flexible. Let your manager know you are getting things in order, making a transition. They'll not even ask details.

I would discuss it with your HR but I think leaving early would reduce or invalidate a lump sum.

2 words: permissive time

tell your boss you caught a nasty flu bug

by | Post ID:

unfortunately not all people are what we would consider "civil". to them doing the right thing ISN'T doing the right thing!

by | Post ID:

Why not just be civil and let him leave early. If it works best this way then why not do the decent thing. If you had a good upbringing then decency becomes second nature.

by | Post ID:

, I believe that would count as departing the company early.

Why don't you just take your last week as a week of permissive vacation?
