It is unlikely WFR notices will be given out on Thanksgiving week next week. In the past, some notices were given after Thanksgiving break but not before. HPE Executives found out that it is bad PR to be laying off people during the Christmas season. Therefore, I think if you have not received a notice today, you are relatively safe or I should say 80% safe until January. It does not mean Meggot will not WFR any but the number of notices will be low to keep it under the radar.

WFRs have been handed out on the weeks leading up to XMas many time in past years. People would begrudgingly refer to them as thoughtful XMas gifts from by whoever is is the bozo CEO at the time.
90% of my team was laid off on Monday of this week. Those of us on vacation Monday got our notices yesterday. Merry Christmas to us.....All US based, our work moving overseas. So yes they do lay off folks before Christmas. They don’t give a sh--.
ha ha. The job market is kind of slow right now due to the holidays coming up.
Interesting. I was let go last April. I never thought age descrimination case was winnable. I am starting to think it is. Keep in mind, it will take years and HPE can afford alot more justice than a civilian can.
What I have seen - the massive layoffs are in Meg's plans.
Youger Workforce - Baby Boomers are undiserables with some race discrmination in the mix
80% of the workforce will be offshored
20% in the USA will be left mostly H1B
Yes, as soon as the next week when I was WFR'd - the VP flew down to Costa Rica and started a hiring recruting spree. My job was not obsolute because I was ask to turn over my subject matter expert knowledge to others of all of my ownership projects.
The people who are suing on age discrimination have a case. And it is not only HP, but CISCO as well as what I have observed.
Got a general question: For those getting WFR'd, are your jobs being sent abroad or is it that your position has been deemed just plain obsolete or redundant. In my life span of 68 years I have never seen or heard of such a massive layoff program at least not since the demise of the US steel and auto industry back in the 60's and 70's. I am sure someone will write a book on this after all it was the crown jewel of silicon valley.
"Merry f---ing Christmas, you filthy animal .... and a Happy New Year" is what I heard.
Yep, 2016 right before Christmas. Merry f---ng Christmas right!!!
Not necessarily true, I (and several others) were whacked two weeks before Christmas 2016. Merry F'ing Christmas from Meg....
"Then, the second week of January is brutal... Has been the same for years now."
One time, about 10 years ago, I came back into the office in January after taking some Christmas FTO. When I arrived people were gathered in the hallways, talking in hushed tones. I could tell something bad had happened. When I asked I was told that the XYZ team, all 40+ of them, were WFR'd between Christmas and New Years. That was when I decided that I had to leave HP. I did and even though HP recruiters called me later, asking if I wanted to come back, I said no; which given what has happened since Meg took over was a wise choice.
I figured last spring that I would be wacked Dec 1 when my major accounts went away. I was wrong, June 19th was the day. The last 4 months have been so much better then waiting for the wack. May all have a great holiday season and keep your eyes open for opportunities outside HPE.
Yep. That has been the trend - but for a few exceptions. Then, the second week of January is brutal... Has been the same for years now.
