There are many employees here who are not covered by labor contracts in IT and other related jobs.

Yes, it's true the company will give you a guaranteed job offer - IF you can jump through all their hoops. But the job they offer you is likely to be one that pays a lot less than what you're making now. Plus, if you accept that new position, your pension band immediately drops. So if you've been with the company any length of time, you're looking at a substantial decrease in your pension on down the line.

So, whether you take the lower-paying job - which will be in a sales call center or a prem tech per the contract, or leave the company, the company wins.

"When is someone in congress or the national press going to start calling T management on these lies?"

The area of job reductions includes legacy landline telephone, an obsolete 20th century technology that is labor intensive. The CWA contracts covering occupational workers call for a "guaranteed job offer" for most titles. So, some people will accept a new assignment. There will be others that are retirement eligible that will appreciate the severance pay as they move into retirement with health care.

So, it isn't a lie. Your calling it such indicates a lack of familiarity with the labor contracts which means you don't have much to do with AT&T at all. Management won't have the same protections, but from what I've seen, they're not eager to trash management employees disproportionally to how occupational employees are treated. I've seen management employees hanging around for as much as 6 months while they seek a new assignment.

"Richter says that many of the laid-off employees will receive another job within AT&T. "

When is someone in congress or the national press going to start calling T management on these lies?
