Thread regarding Altice USA (Cablevision) layoffs

The bigger picture

It's a new era. Private sector unions are weak. Most technicians hired by cablevision came from nothing. Just a high school diploma others barely speak English. You wonder why union never worked? It takes courage to put it all on the line when you've obtained more than you should have. The fear of going back to nothing makes spineless selfish rats out of many in television.

But despite that the truth is companies have grown in power and laws protect them better these days. Ibew has lost its fight with charter and cwa will soon follow. Don't be mad at the techs who gave up on television. They were likely the ones who fought the most but saw eventually how pointless it was. These days your lucky to just be employed and maintain a sliver of dignity.

Read the post on this site. See for yourself the only ones left are the ones who voted no that once again want others to fight for them. But to bad everyone smart moved on your on your own. The rest of us are living better with charter. Because we know the times have changed.

Yea that's what happens when over 40000 people go on strike. Not 1800 like charter

Strength in numbers does matter. Look at Verizon in the almost nationwide strike. That's what happens when people band together and put their selfishness behind.

by | Post ID:

Strength in number huh? How's that working for charter? Now I'll give the answer you'll give is because of the scabs

by | Post ID:

This whole Brooklyn and Oakland comment is non sense the reason for that is because everyone didn't join them. It is all about strength in numbers you need to come to a realization of that. If everyone had joined together they would have been much stronger and maybe been able to negotiate or at least made some sort of a dent. When you get that many people that come together for one cause it starts to get attention from many different outlets ie. Media and Politicians.

"No has come back to company. Stop telling lies trying to fool others"

Really? I know of a supervisor who did. No lies. Not spouting names tho. Someone else can do that

If being a scab means leaving a miserable company for something better so be it. I'll scab all day. Union isn't feeding my family I am. Nothing personal to those who decided to strike on charter. Had they done proper homework they would have known better than to strike.

They stubbornly strike almost homeless by now. still not understanding that union can do nothing for you. They have a chance to come back but refuse. You think any sane person looking for something better today is going to say no because of some union loyalty? Your old school or blind. The only thing that matters is money and family. Union is not family.

Spots are filling fast at charter. Union guys left out in the cold. Unhappy with altice? Do yourself and your family the favor and move on before your blind since of honor leaves you hungry and homeless.

Cablevision management did awesome for you and the family when they told you ats was awesome too right. They did what they did for them not you.

by | Post ID:

if they come back they losing money. They not coming back with the same rates. You left the company for more money.

Talk facts.

Charter union over played their hand. Didn’t look at the bigger picture and no research . Charter mangerment is 75% cablevision. Then go on strike knowing that altice is having problems too. All the older cablevision crew put the word out.

Don't know how you scabs sleep at night. Karma will certainly haunt in the future.

No has come back to company. Stop telling lies trying to fool others

by | Post ID:

Better at charter???? What are you doing there? From the guys I have talked to they all want out and would rather be back with Cablevision. Multiple guys have already come back. Its not always better on the other side.

by | Post ID:

You think a Union will fix the problems.

Brooklyn; shop gained over the others??

Oakland; what have they gained??

People still leaving the company..union and non union shops. You’re upset people left the company and making more money

by | Post ID:

Guys like you are the reason unions don’t work. Your a scab.

Your an in the closest racists. You need to look at yourself
