Has any one heard anything about the Jewelry Complex Associates and Clericals?

Do you mean your ft jewlery clerk was offered pt jewelry clerk or pt sales position?
In our store a ft sales associate and ft jewelry clerk position have been eliminated. The manager left around Dec 1 for a better job. We are left with 2 ft and 1 or in fine jewelry. We are a platinum store. During the holidays only 1 person at a time was scheduled usually. jewelry clerk was on the floor selling as there were not enough associates. Customers left. Clerk was offered pt and said no. I have worked over 40 hours per week since August because of staffing. Feel sorry for the associates that are left. Customers will walk away from the counter if not serviced quickly.
I was apart of the SW pilot. it was challenging but very rewarding. To "own" your business through specialized training and coaching for your associates. Being on your floor and directing and closing sales and being able to see the Magic delivered on your floor was very rewarding. It changed me as a Manager. Macys should do this business model amongst all FOBs. I don't know why it didn't work out. The results were outstanding. Although no longer apart of the complex I have taken all the training and confidence as a manager it has given me along to my new assignment.
Not sure if it’s just me who listens to the shareholder calls, but I remember Houget saying sometime in either 16 or 17 that we were boosting up our selection and specialised staffing for FJ... and that this pilot was a success and rolling out from the southwest region to all doors... seems like plans have changed?
I agree with you ...that’s why i took my job as it is a good way to get in on something big that will move me to the next level with Macy’s. With all of this craziness this year I’m keeping my eyes open for any other job opportunities, not sure i want to go through this limbo again next year.
I was a JBM who was apart of the job eliminations last year. It still on some level bothers me to this day. I was "talked into" taking the position, I had my reservations. I decided to give it a go and I fell in love with jewelry, all the operational pieces associated with the department and of course made strong connections with my associates. And then one day it was gone. Very hard pill to swallow especially when this was sold as the next big thing to launch your career within Macy's.
Are any Clericals being cut?
I thought the Jewelry Complex was a must win for Macy’s? I was hired into this new strategy and with all these cuts i will have no staff, and my job is safe this year but will it be the next? There is no way to make LY for all the events and trunks shows with NO staff. It was hard enough these last couple of months on a skeleton staff and minimum hours...sad.
Not all the jewelry complex sales supervisors were cut...ours didn’t, she is still employed, and the captain too. Lost 2 associates
I lost my part time position, I think all of the jewelry complex sales supervisors were let go. There's hardly anyone left to sell jewelry, or anything else for that matter. Our store had massive cuts. The writing is on the wall folks. Makes me very sad that it's come to this.
We lost one .5 so now we only have 3 FT (one is captain) and one PT. Not sure how that's going to work with vacations and sickness. Had to chuckle at the presell comment. It's so sad and stupid.
In jewelry and supposedly more pt and 2 or 3 full timers. Big store and a lot of jewelry associates. Getting hit hard, and manager only cares about the semi annual presell, what a world.
3 part timers in Jewelry? Or your whole store?
In my store, 3 part timers have been told, including myself. Heard there is more to come.
