Take the early retirement

Saw several folks leave recently and take the early retirement. It's that or you'll see your position disappear and yourself. They are cutting everyone who makes good money + long time service.

After 25 years service I was fortunate enough to be in a position where I could quit.

The stress just rolled away the moment I pushed Send and the email was on its way.

Don't ever believe the SLB bs and always look after yourself before the Company!

wow good money is being able to afford to drive to work and save, invest, maybe a little. cant afford to be sic either . take the writing on the wall retire, most are going to over being laid off if given a chance. Unless their product ctrs, manuf top tier folks aren't being taken care of.

A class action law suit is wishful thinking and most likely very appropriate. But this scene has been played out since the beginning of time. It's just not going to happen. My advice based on personal experience (over 35 years of service) is to be thankful for the opportunities SLB afforded you and look forward to opportunities elsewhere. In the long run, it's only business. And believe me, I was not, and I'm still not, happy about the way I was treated when I was released over 2 years ago. So please don't think I am a cheerleader for SLB.

In terms of 'good money' my definition would be to make a better-than-average living allowing someone to make more money than is necessary to sustain a certain quality of life. Peace.

I second this - they are after older workers, not because of age but because of pay increases that accumulated over time. I can guarantee you that there will be a class action once the dust settles. Just my opinion, have no insider info.

so don't expect a long term career or making good money in schlumberger - you can work your ass off for them and get promoted and grow your salary over the years but be aware at the same time you are moving up to the top of the "to be fired" list in the event of any cost reduction iniatives - thats why i got out of there - there is no future or loyalty to employees
