Thread regarding ITT Educational Services Inc. layoffs

Blame Kevin Modany

So many folks assume ITT Tech was corrupt from the bottom up...ignoring the fact that there were many solid performing campuses with staff that truly cared about their students, and did their absolute best under extraordinary circumstances.

Please don't demonize everyone that worked at ITT...but place the blame firmly on Kevin Modany, the corporate staff, and the board of directors. They long ago could have worked with the states and the DOE to resolve the issues (Look to Capella Education Company as an example of how to partner with the DOE and come out stronger). Instead, Modany thumbed his nose and the Board of Directors stuck their heads in the sand, while the schools reputation went into the gutter.

Truly, the point of no return for ITT Tech happened this last January when Kevin Modany (and the board agreed) rescinded his decision to leave the company. Only under new leadership would the company have have any possibility of regaining credibility with the government.

Anyone have any current (2/18) information on the SEC action against the little weasel?

Very well said!

I worked for ITT Tech for many years, starting from the Anaheim campus to the Orange campus.

Most reps loved their job because we got to work with students and mess around with each other when we weren't busy. The big reps at that school were, Reza, Erik, Carlos and Jeanette. The big losers at the school were & still are: Fred, Chett - AKA ($hit) and Toni the rep!

We blame rat boy Kevin Modany for the school going down.

Spare me the sanctimonious bs, the bald fact is this place puts 12-18 times the debt load on everyone compared to a state school. Grades, attendance, and even jobs won't matter with your predatory loans. None of you helped anybody, you complain about current students because you're too chicken sh-- to talk to past students.

"Corporate focused on all the wrong things in the wrong way. You know, part of this was they were too big."

Many seem to believe Modany is a bean counting a__hole who got in over his head. Yet you and I knew this place was plunging over the cliff, for the past several years, with funding for academics gutted and way too much attention spent on marketing.

Meanwhile, squeaky little Modany and the board have continued to do everything wrong, so glaringly wrong. They had to know that ultimately the diploma mill they were building would be shut down. And the company is tanking, right on schedule. Something just doesn't add up here.

I am not big on conspiracy theories, but I really have to wonder about the back story here. I hope a few books are written on this -- like the stuff that came out on Enron collapse, and Madoff pyramid scheme.

"Modany can't string two coherent sentences together."

He is an unimpressive speaker and an unimpressive bean counter.

Funny comment about the little rodent speaking at graduation. But have you ever heard the little man speak? Modany can't string two coherent sentences together.

Cheers to all for doing such a splendid job. You're all heroes.

Modany should probably give the speech at the graduation ceremonies this term. I'm sure he has a lot to talk about.

To current student. Nothing posted on these forums is official information ... it's speculation, gossip, etc. You really need to contact your school management and ask them -- go to your campus if necessary. You are paying thousands of dollars in tuition for this quarter and you certainly have the right to ask questions. Then come back and post what you find out!

I'm a current student... Will ITT pull through? (I don't think so) and when do you think it will close?

by | Post ID:

100% agree. Weird makes no sense directives from on high were constantly being handed down to recruiters and instructors, while the quality of instruction suffered due to poor curriculum and even poorer resources. My campus where I taught was typical. Tons of employees working "admissions" while I'm staring at a room full of pentium computers. I couldn't even buy a $25 tablet for teaching Android development. Corporate focused on all the wrong things in the wrong way. You know, part of this was they were too big.

I completely agree, finally someone posted a comment that makes sense!!! And by the way we are not kool aid drinkers, we did our jobs the way is supposed to be done.
