Thread regarding Verizon Communications Inc. layoffs

RIF is quickly approaching

Please be respectful of those impacted by the upcoming RIF. It's hard enough to be told you've lost your source of income and benefits which provide for your family. These people don't need to hear or see cruel venomous words about the company or them personally. That changes nothing. Your words are a reflection of your own character. How do you want to be remembered? Be kind, encouraging and supportive to others. Wishing everyone the best in this difficult time.

Someone posted this few days ago, got me thinking. Don't know if RIF is coming in next few days, but I'm almost certain it's coming soon enough and it's probably gonna get ugly, so I don't think it's redundant to repeat this post again.

Received an updated income security plan (ISP) Benefits document in the mail today. IMO it's going to happen soon.

I worked for Bell Atlantic ( good company) Verizon ( bad company ) for 29 years. The last 15 years was the era of Rifs. Sometimes 2 a year. Riffing and never hiring new people to replace those that left on their own or were forced out. The remaining lucky few had to absorb the work load while the mgrs just said get it done. An unsustainable model of collapsing morale. Froze mgmnt pension in 2006 the cowards. I was 18 years in the company. Nothing but A $$ kissing middle mgmnt never representing their workers on any important issues like efficiency, staffing etc to make their dept more productive. I worked in an office that had the drapes rotting off the Windows. The manger wouldn't even come into the office because the roof leaked and he told people he thought it wasnt healthy but the four remaining employees had to work there. I walked out the door 4 weeks ago . Treated them the way they treated me. No warning adios Aholes. Loyalty is a two way street except at Verizon. You get what you give !

Good post and I hope people post accurate as possible information as well and not speculative rumors.

And for those who want to post "you should have joined a union" I have to tell you Verizon does everything in its power to suppress union activity to a large degree of success. And outside of the northeast area, union solicitation is practically non existent.

It definitely is a difficult time however, if you feel that way how did you not see it coming? It's kind of hard for people NOT to talk about it considering this company is doing nothing but cutting cost wherever they possibly can. Trust me, there is certainly life outside of Verizon. It just unfortunately takes a situational such to realize it. I appreciate the fact I've learned that. The company was alway great to me however, they have seemed to have forgotten their loyalty to their employees which is no longer there.
